Lugano – Acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook will preside over the main competition jury at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, set to run from May 12 – 23 on the French Riviera, leading a diverse and high-profile panel tasked with selecting this year’s Palme d’Or winner.
Joining Park on the jury are American actress Demi Moore, Chinese-born filmmaker Chloé Zhao, Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, Ethiopian-Irish actress Ruth Negga, Belgian director Laura Wandel, Chilean filmmaker Diego Céspedes, Ivorian-French actor Isaach de Bankolé, and British screenwriter Paul Laverty, forming a diverse panel of internationally recognized artists and filmmakers.
The nine-member jury will evaluate films in competition at the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, carefully reviewing a selection of works from leading filmmakers around the world.
In addition to selecting the Palme d’Or, the festival’s highest honor, the jury is also responsible for awarding several other major prizes, including the Grand Prix, Jury Prize, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and acting awards, making its decisions among the most closely watched in global cinema.
Chan-wook has a long-standing history with the festival, having been recognized for several of his films over the years.

This year, Morocco will be among the countries represented at the festival, with “Strawberries,” directed by Leïla Marrakchi, selected for the official “Un Certain Regard” section, known for spotlighting innovative storytelling and diverse cinematic voices.
