Lugano – Morocco is preparing to celebrate Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan’s 23rd birthday tomorrow, an occasion expected to attract nationwide attention and renewed discussion about the young royal’s expanding role in public life.

As the eldest son of King Mohammed VI, Moulay El Hassan has increasingly become a visible figure at official ceremonies and state events in recent years.

Born in Rabat on May 8, 2003, the Crown Prince has gradually taken on a more active role within Morocco’s royal institution, representing the monarchy at military, cultural, and sporting events across the country.

One of his most significant recent responsibilities came earlier this month when King Mohammed VI appointed him Coordinator of the Offices and Services of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.

The appointment marked an important step in the Crown Prince’s growing involvement within Morocco’s military institutions and echoed a role previously held by King Mohammed VI himself during his time as Crown Prince.

Moulay El Hassan has also maintained a strong presence at military ceremonies in recent years.

Last year, he presided over a military graduation ceremony in Kenitra honoring graduates from several Moroccan military academies.

Beyond military affairs, the Crown Prince has become increasingly involved in national development.

In April, he inaugurated the Mohammed VI Tower in Rabat, now recognized as Morocco’s tallest tower and one of the country’s most symbolic modern infrastructure projects.

The Crown Prince has also represented the monarchy during public celebrations connected to sports.

Last year, he chaired a royal ceremony honoring Morocco’s national under-20 football team following one of the squad’s major accomplishments on the international stage.

As Morocco prepares for tomorrow’s celebrations, many see the occasion not only as a royal birthday, but also as another reflection of the Crown Prince’s expanding public role within the country.
