Fez — Morocco will host a major tribute to Whitney Houston this week, with two concerts scheduled in Casablanca and Rabat on May 14 and 15.

The show, titled “Whitney – The Voice. The Legend. The Emotion,” will first take place at Cinema Ritz in Casablanca on May 14. It will then move to the Mohammed V National Theater in Rabat on May 15.

The tribute comes 14 years after Whitney Houston’s death in 2012. Her music remains one of the most powerful catalogs in modern pop, soul, and gospel.

Renata Santos takes on Whitney Houston’s legacy

The show will be led by Renata Santos, an international performer known for her work around Whitney Houston’s repertoire. She will perform some of Houston’s most famous songs, including “I Will Always Love You,” “Greatest Love of All,” and “I Have Nothing.”

The production presents Santos as an interpreter, not an impersonator. The goal is to honor Houston’s tone, vocal power, emotion, and phrasing without turning the performance into parody.

That choice matters. Houston’s songs are not easy tribute material. They require vocal control, range, and emotional precision. Her music moves between gospel strength, pop structure, and soul intensity.

For Moroccan audiences, the two concerts offer a chance to revisit songs that shaped several generations. Many listeners discovered Houston through film soundtracks, radio, weddings, television, and family gatherings.

Underground brings the show to Morocco

The production is signed by Underground, a Moroccan event producer active in the country’s live entertainment scene. The company is presenting the concert as one of the largest Whitney Houston tribute shows staged in Morocco.

The format combines a large stage tribute with a direct connection to the audience. The show is built around voice, lighting, musicianship, and memory, rather than heavy theatrical effects.

Tickets are available through national platforms, including Liveticket, Ticket.ma, Guichet, and iTicket.

Casablanca and Rabat strengthen their cultural calendar

The concerts also reflect a growing trend in Morocco’s cultural scene. Casablanca and Rabat are becoming regular stops for tribute productions, international concerts, and stage shows that once focused mainly on Europe.

This matters for both cities. Casablanca brings a large urban audience and a strong nightlife culture. Rabat adds major institutional venues and a growing cultural calendar.

The Whitney Houston tribute arrives during an active spring season for Moroccan entertainment. It also comes weeks before the 21st edition of “Mawazine – Rhythms of the World,” which will take place from June 19 to 27 in Rabat and Sale.
