Fez — “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” is set to arrive in Moroccan cinemas on Wednesday, May 20, bringing the cult duo of Din Djarin and Grogu to national theaters.

The film marks the return of the “Star Wars” universe to the big screen after a long theatrical break, following the 2019 release of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” Pathé Morocco lists, as well as Megarama, the film for a May 20 release, with a runtime of 2 hours and 12 minutes and a genre classification spanning action, adventure, fantasy, and science fiction.

Directed by Jon Favreau, “The Mandalorian and Grogu” continues the story launched through the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” which premiered in 2019 and helped introduce a new generation of fans to the armored bounty hunter and his small Force-sensitive apprentice.

A new mission after the Empire

The story takes place after the fall of the Galactic Empire, as Imperial warlords remain scattered across the galaxy. While the young New Republic attempts to defend the legacy of the Rebellion, it turns to Din Djarin and Grogu for help.

The official synopsis describes the film as following the legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter and his apprentice as they are drawn into a new mission at a time when the galaxy remains unstable.

The move to cinemas allows the story to expand beyond the scale of the series, while keeping the emotional bond between Din Djarin and Grogu at the heart of the adventure.

A creative team tied to modern ‘Star Wars’

Favreau, who helped shape “The Mandalorian” as creator and showrunner, directs the film and is also credited as co-writer alongside Dave Filoni.

Filoni has become one of the franchise’s most important modern figures, with major involvement in “The Clone Wars,” “Rebels,” “Ahsoka,” and “The Mandalorian.” His presence ties the film to a wider universe of animated and live-action stories that have expanded the saga beyond the Skywalker storyline.

The film also arrives as the first major “Star Wars” theatrical release in nearly seven years, a gap that has raised expectations among fans who have followed the franchise mainly through television in recent years.

Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin

Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin, the Mandalorian warrior whose relationship with Grogu became one of the defining elements of the Disney+ series. The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward and Jeremy Allen White as the voice of Rotta the Hutt.

Weaver’s arrival adds another major science-fiction name to the franchise, while White’s voice role introduces a character connected to the Hutt crime family, one of the most familiar criminal networks in “Star Wars” lore.
