Rabat – Morocco has ranked 66th out of 121 countries in the latest Economic Index released by Anthropic, offering new insight into the kingdom’s place on the global map of generative artificial intelligence adoption.
The report tracks the use of Claude, Anthropic’s AI platform, and examines how individuals and businesses are integrating the technology into their daily and professional activities.
The index measures platform usage relative to what would be expected based on each country’s population, dividing nations into four broad categories: leaders, above average, below average, and emerging users.
Morocco’s ranking places it among countries with average levels of Claude usage, positioned between Saudi Arabia, ranked 64th, and Kuwait at 65th, followed by Malaysia in 67th place and Ukraine in 68th.
Within the North Africa and Middle East region, Morocco trails Tunisia, which ranked 47th, but remains ahead of neighboring Algeria at 82nd and Egypt at 98th, highlighting its relatively stronger adoption of AI tools in the region.
According to Anthropic’s methodology, the index analyzes anonymized user conversations to measure how artificial intelligence is being used across economic and professional contexts.
It focuses on the role of AI as an assistant in completing tasks, solving problems, and supporting productivity.
Globally, the sectors making the most use of Claude are dominated by computer science and mathematics, followed by arts, design and media, as well as education and library-related activities.
Conversations are also categorized based on whether they are linked to work, personal needs, or academic purposes.
In Morocco, the data identified six main areas of Claude usage. School assignments ranked as the most common use case, followed by writing personal profile texts, front-end website development, promotional content creation, presentation design, and launching entrepreneurial projects.
The report also breaks down usage by professional field, showing that computer science and mathematics account for the largest share of conversations in Morocco at 25.6%.
Education and library-related topics follow with 15.6%, while arts, design, entertainment, sports, and media represent 13.2%. Sales-related discussions make up 7.3%, with management accounting for 5.4%.
On the global scale, Australia topped the ranking for Claude usage, followed by Singapore, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and New Zealand.
At the bottom of the list were Tanzania, Mozambique, and Madagascar.
