Rabat – Egyptian-Tunisian singer Latifa has accepted an invitation to join the Recording Academy, the organization behind the Grammy Awards, adding her name to a global community of artists and music professionals shaping the industry.
The invitation marks a significant moment in Latifa’s decades-long career, which has seen her build a reputation across the Arab music scene while experimenting with different sounds and collaborating with leading figures in the industry.
Her new membership places her within an international network of performers, songwriters, producers and other music professionals.
Membership in the Recording Academy also gives eligible members a role in the Grammy Awards’ voting process, including decisions that help determine nominees and winners across the ceremony’s various categories.
For Latifa, the move comes as she continues to expand her musical output rather than simply look back on an established career.
She is currently releasing tracks from her latest album, “Shabihi Bil Melli,” a 13-track project featuring a lineup of prominent Arab songwriters, composers and arrangers.
The album brings together elements of the musical identity Latifa has developed throughout her career with more contemporary production and sounds, reflecting her continued effort to evolve while remaining connected to her roots.
