Rabat – Celebrating art and talents, the Association of Mediterranean Journalists honored the Moroccan fashion designer Halima Hadir with the Euro-Mediterranean International Excellence award.
The Award ceremony took place on October 14 at the Italian Ministry of Culture in the presence of the Italian Undersecretary of State for Culture, Giampiero Cannella, Morocco’s ambassador to Italy, Youssef Balla, Maria Concetta Cassata, president of the Italian Ministry of Culture’s Single Guarantee Committee, and the president of the Association of Mediterranean Journalists and founder of the award, Dündar Keşaplı.
Hadir’s recognition celebrates years of continuous effort, and contribution to bridge between the Moroccan and Italian cultures.
During the ceremony, the ambassador of Morocco to Italy congratulated the talented artist on the award, which acknowledges her excellence and commitment.
In 2018, Hadir launched Safira Milano, a luxury fashion brand, with a vision of adding an Italian touch to the Moroccan caftan and introducing it to international markets.
She sees fashion as a means for cross-cultural dialogue, when language fails, art speaks.
Combining the fine-grained details of Traditional Moroccan embroidery, colors and materials, and the Italian haute couture, Hadir created pieces that embody Moroccan legacy and Italian modernity.
Hadir is known for her critical eye, and unique signature that combines modernity with tradition. She constituted her own creative identity where the Italian and Moroccan cultures do not compete but rather complement one another.
