Fez — Marrakech is preparing to transform into an open-air artistic itinerary as ‘AMY – Art Meets You” returns for its third edition from October 22 to 25, inviting visitors to explore the city’s contemporary art scene through exhibitions, studio visits, and conversations with artists.
Rather than concentrating its programming in a single venue, the initiative connects galleries, museums, cultural institutions, and independent studios across the Medina, Guéliz, and other parts of Marrakech.
This year’s edition marks a new chapter for the initiative, welcoming the National Foundation of Museums (FNM) as a partner for the first time and expanding opportunities for visitors to discover the city’s artistic heritage.
An opening conversation at Dar El Bacha
The four-day program will begin on Thursday, October 22, with a focus on Marrakech’s Medina.
At 7 p.m., Dar El Bacha, Museum of Confluences, will host an opening discussion titled “L’Atelier Ouvert – De la création à l’acquisition d’une œuvre” (The Open Studio: From Creating to Acquiring an Artwork).
Moderated by Valérie Tazi, artistic director of JAAL Riad Resort, the conversation will bring together artist Meriam Benkirane, architect Fatima-Zohra Bennani, and designer and art adviser Antoine Jourdan.
The participants will explore the relationship between artists, collectors, galleries, and the contemporary art market, examining how artworks move from their creators’ studios into private and public collections.
The opening day will also feature an encounter with Moroccan painter Zineb Bouchra at Deserted Photo Booth in the Medina.
A citywide journey through contemporary art
On Friday, October 23, the program will shift toward Guéliz, where several galleries will inaugurate new exhibitions.
At Comptoir des Mines Galerie, Moroccan artist Hassan Bourkia will present “Les Sentiers de l’Intranquillité” (The Paths of Restlessness), an exhibition exploring memory, literature, and personal histories.
Villa Some will welcome artist Hajar Daide, whose practice draws on traditional craftsmanship and contemporary approaches to visual storytelling.
Meanwhile, Galerie Siniya28 will present Yasmine Amal’s solo exhibition “I Remembered, I Surrendered,” while Galerie 38 will host Meriam Benkirane’s “Factory of Hope.”
Beyond the exhibitions, AMY will invite visitors into artists’ working environments, providing opportunities to understand the creative processes behind their work.
Participating artists include Abdessamia Bargamane, Soumiya Jalal, Yasmina Alaoui, Houda Kabbaj, Akshay Raj Singh Rathore, and Noureddine Chater.
Emerging artists and guided discoveries
The 2026 edition also introduces an initiative supporting emerging talent through an open call.
A jury comprising Kenza Iraki, Olivier Rachet, and Kenza Amrouk selected three artists: Keya, Samir Toumi, and Nadia Ouriachi Conejo.
Toumi and Ouriachi Conejo will present their work at Bab Hotel, while Keya will exhibit at Four Seasons Resort Marrakech.
On Saturday, October 24, visitors will have opportunities to explore several participating museums and galleries through guided tours organized in collaboration with the Turâth association.
The program includes visits to Dar El Bacha, the Museum of Marrakech’s Intangible Heritage, and the Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden (MACAAL).
At MACAAL, visitors can also discover “Le temps d’un battement de cil,” an exhibition by Moroccan photographer and filmmaker Daoud Aoulad-Syad.
The event will conclude on Sunday, October 25, with further artistic encounters and an invitation-only brunch at Jardin Ocre.
Through its decentralized approach, Art Meets You seeks to make Marrakech’s artistic landscape more accessible while encouraging encounters between established institutions, emerging artists, and new audiences.
Visitors can consult the event’s official Instagram account for programming information or reserve places for selected activities.
Some encounters and guided tours require advance registration, while participating museums maintain their respective admission policies.
