Something big is brewing in the world of electric vehicles, and it’s got tech lovers and car enthusiasts buzzing. Are you ready for what’s next?
Fez – Sony and Honda’s electric car, the Afeela 1, is finally making its way from concept to reality. After five years of development, you can now preorder this futuristic ride—well, if you live in California.
Unveiled at CES, the Afeela 1 will come in two models: the Afeela 1 Origin, starting at $89,900, and the Afeela 1 Signature, priced at $102,900.
Both trims include a three-year subscription to advanced in-car tech like Level 2+ driver assistance and an AI-powered personal assistant.
For Californians ready to get in line, a refundable $200 deposit secures a spot. Deliveries for the premium Signature trim begin in 2026, while the more affordable Origin trim will roll out in 2027. As for the rest of the U.S.?
No word yet on when—or if—this EV will hit other states.
The Afeela 1 promises some solid specs: an EPA-estimated range of up to 300 miles, built-in compatibility with Tesla’s Supercharger network, and a sleek “Core Black” paint option (because apparently, that’s the only color for now).
The design of the Afeela 1 blends Tesla vibes with a touch of Lucid Air, featuring short overhangs, a long wheelbase, and an interior loaded with futuristic tech.

Screens stretch across the entire dashboard, and the car packs 40 sensors and cameras to enable semi-autonomous driving.
There’s also a hint of augmented reality and “virtual worlds” integration, making this car a rolling tech hub.
At the CES press event, Sony Honda Mobility’s CEO, Yasuhide Mizuno, showed off one of Afeela’s coolest features: a voice command that summoned the car onto the stage.
Mizuno simply said, “Come on out, Afeela” into his phone, and the car rolled up. While this was framed as a tech demo, it raises hopes for voice commands to be part of the final product.
Sony and Honda are positioning the Afeela 1 to compete with the top luxury EVs, combining cutting-edge tech and stylish design.
The car’s release comes at a time when the EV market has seen massive shifts, from soaring demand to industry stabilization.
And with Chinese automakers dominating the EV landscape, Honda has even started exploring partnerships to stay competitive.
More details on the Afeela 1’s shopping and ownership experience are expected at another press conference tomorrow.
For now, California residents can start dreaming of cruising around in this sleek, tech-forward ride—while the rest of us wait to see what’s next for Afeela.
