Lugano – The film “Mauvais Temps”” (Bad Weather, directed by Moroccan filmmaker Madane El Ghazouani, will embark on a national tour across Morocco from March 25 – April 3 in partnership with the French Institute in Morocco.

The tour will feature several screenings followed by meetings with the director and members of the cast, allowing audiences to discuss the film and its themes.

The film is the first feature-length film by El Ghazouani, who trained in 2015 at the surrealist film workshops of Offenbach HfG in Frankfurt, Germany.

He later directed several short films, including “Good Bye Cinema,” selected at the Marrakech International Film Festival, and “Ghirban,” which won the Grand Prix at the Tangier National Film Festival in 2018.

“Bad Weather” follows the story of Ayoub, a 10-year-old boy who lives with his parents in a modest apartment inherited from his grandfather.

When his uncle demands his share of the inheritance, the family decides to divide the apartment, forcing Ayoub’s parents to live in the section without a bathroom.

The situation gradually turns daily life into a silent struggle, highlighting issues of privacy, dignity, and fragile family relationships within difficult economic circumstances.

The Moroccan drama, performed in Darija and subtitled in French, stars Abdenbi El Beniwi, Hajar Graigaa, and Abdelkader Arguig and runs for approximately 1 hour and 58 minutes.

Tour across Moroccan cities

The film’s national tour will begin in Kénitra on March 25, followed by Tangier and Fez on March 26, Oujda on March 27, and Meknes on March 28.

Screenings will then take place in Rabat on March 29-31, Casablanca on March 31, El Jadida on April 1, Marrakech on April 2, and Agadir on April 3.

Screenings, except in Tangier, will take place in the presence of the director and members of the cast, offering audiences the opportunity to exchange with the creative team about the film’s themes and production.

In Rabat, the film will be shown at the Cinéma 7ème Art on March 29, with director and cast in attendance, followed by another screening on March 31 at Salle Gérard Philipe.

The screenings are part of the Institut français du Maroc’s cinema program “Plan large, which regularly presents international and Moroccan films on the big screen.

Festival recognition

Following its release last year, the film received several recognitions at the National Film Festival of Tangier 2025, where it won three awards, including the Prize for First Work, the Special Jury Prize, and Male Interpretation Award for actor Abdenbi El Beniwi.

The film also had its international premiere at the 22nd edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival, where it was presented to global audiences as part of the festival’s official program.

Through its national tour and festival recognition, the film continues to draw attention as a socially engaged Moroccan film exploring family tensions and economic hardship in contemporary society.
