Fez — The 22nd edition of the Maroc Telecom Beach Festival opened in M’diq yesterday, launching another summer of free live music across northern and eastern Morocco.
A large audience gathered for the opening night, which featured performances by Groupe Atya Jabalia and Moroccan singer Abdelali Anouar. The artists brought local folk sounds and popular Moroccan music to the seaside stage, setting a festive tone for the weeks ahead.
The celebration continues in M’diq on Tuesday evening with Groupe Ouazani and rapper Dollypran, whose appearances reflect the festival’s effort to bring contrasting musical styles onto the same public stage.
Sixty free concerts across four cities
Maroc Telecom has scheduled approximately 60 free concerts between July 20 and August 21. The performances will take place in M’diq, Tangier, Al Hoceima, and Saïdia.
The program will bring together established Moroccan and Arab performers, emerging artists, and local groups. Its musical range includes hip-hop, rap, Aïta, chaabi, raï, Reggada, contemporary Moroccan music, Arab pop, and Levantine songs.
Launched in 2002, the festival has developed into one of Morocco’s major free summer music events. Organizers also present it as a platform where young artists can perform alongside recognized names before large audiences.
By bringing free concerts to coastal cities during the busiest tourism season, the festival makes live music accessible while supporting local cultural life.
Its return also gives residents and summer visitors a shared space where regional traditions, popular music, and emerging voices can meet beside the sea.
