Casablanca – The Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) has released its 2025 report, revealing the films that attracted the largest cinema audiences in Morocco.
Among the top-performing national and international releases, six Moroccan movies stood out, securing the highest numbers of viewers.
‘My friend’
Leading the list is “My Friend,” which attracted 262,929 moviegoers.
Directed by Raouf Sebbahi, the film follows a thirty-year-old television and satellite dish repair technician who lives with his hearing-impaired mother in a modest neighborhood.
Dreaming of starting a new life in the United States, he attempts to secure his future by manipulating an American woman into a romantic relationship.
The film stars Yassar and Sara Benkarara, whose on-screen chemistry won over audiences in the Ramadan series “Souhlifa.” The cast also includes Rafik Boubker, Tarik Bakhari, and several other familiar faces.
‘Routini’
Coming in second with 186,086 viewers is “Routini,” directed by Lofi Aït Jaoui.
The comedy reunites Aziz Dadas and Majdouline Idrissi, a duo that has become increasingly popular among Moroccan audiences thanks to their recurring collaborations and natural chemistry on screen.
The story follows a family whose life takes an unexpected turn after the wife becomes a social media influencer. As she begins sharing every aspect of her daily life online and chasing the latest trends, her growing online presence gradually creates tension within the household, turning ordinary routines into a series of humorous yet challenging situations.
‘Les Imposteurs’
With 111,838 viewers, “Les Imposteurs” ranks third on the list.
The film once again pairs Aziz Dadas and Majdouline Idrissi, further cementing their status as one of Moroccan cinema’s favorite on-screen duos.
At first glance, the family at the center of the story appears refined and respectable. Behind closed doors, however, they make a living through elaborate scams and carefully crafted appearances.
When one of their schemes goes terribly wrong, they suddenly find themselves pursued by the mafia, setting off a chain of chaotic, action-packed, and comedic events that put their family bond to the test.
‘Casa Guira’
Directed by Omar Lotfi and produced by RedOne, “Casa Guira” takes fourth place with 103,958 viewers.
The film follows Ismail, who is released from prison after serving twelve years for stealing gold.
Determined to recover the missing treasure, he embarks on a chaotic search alongside his childhood friend Nassim. Their mission becomes even more complicated after the death of the only man who knew where the gold was hidden.
‘Le Buzz’
“Le Buzz” comes next with 68,639 viewers.
Directed by Dimna Bounaylat and written by Kalila Bounaylat, the film stars Moroccan singer Dounia Batma and explores the impact of social media fame.
It follows the story of a talented singer who struggles to gain recognition in a world where viral sensations often overshadow genuine talent, offering a satirical look at today’s digital culture.
‘Hadda w Krimou’
Rounding out the top six is Hicham El Jebbari’s “Hadda w Krimou,” which welcomed 65,090 moviegoers.
The socially driven film follows Krimou, a man determined to protect his deaf sister, Hadda, from the prejudice and hardships surrounding them as the siblings navigate difficult living conditions and the challenges imposed by society.
Morocco, the US and Japan lead the rankings
These were not the only Moroccan productions to make the CCM’s list of the 30 most-watched films in Moroccan cinemas in 2025. However, they were the six titles that attracted the largest audiences.
The remainder of the ranking is largely made up of American productions, with “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – Infinity Castle” standing out as the only Japanese film to secure a place on the list.
