Rabat – Lebanese artist Haifa Wehbe has been named Spotify EQUAL’s global ambassador for July, marking another international recognition for one of the Arab world’s most enduring pop stars.
As part of the recognition, Wehbe was featured on Spotify’s iconic billboard in New York’s Times Square, putting an Arab female artist at the center of one of the world’s most recognizable advertising landmarks.
Wehbe also fronts EQUAL Arabia’s July cover, alongside the global EQUAL playlist cover, bringing her music and image to both regional and international audiences through the platform.
Launched in 2021, Spotify EQUAL aims to amplify women artists and give greater visibility to their music around the world. Its EQUAL Arabia initiative brings that mission to the region, highlighting the talent, creativity, and cultural impact of women artists from across the Arab world.
For Wehbe, the recognition comes after more than two decades in the spotlight. Throughout her career, she has built a strong presence in Arabic pop while also expanding into acting, fashion, and other creative spaces, becoming a widely recognized figure both in the region and beyond.
Her appearance in Times Square carries a meaning beyond the billboard itself. It places one of the Arab world’s most recognizable female artists on a global platform, highlighting the reach of Arab music and the women shaping its sound and identity.
