Rabat — Adidas Originals and BLACKPINK star Jennie have launched their first co-designed collection, blending the controlled elegance of ballet with the brand’s sportswear heritage.

Released globally on September 1, “Adidas Originals by JENNIE” marks Jennie’s debut as a co-designer for the sportswear company. The Fall/Winter 2026 collection centers on “Functional Grace,” a concept balancing softness, strength, movement, and modern femininity.

Ballet serves as the collection’s starting point rather than a strict aesthetic blueprint. Adidas said the designs take familiar dance elements and place them within a more futuristic and surreal visual world.

At the center of the collection is the “Superstar SQ Ballet,” a reinterpretation of Adidas’ classic Superstar sneaker through the shape of a ballet pointe shoe.

The design keeps recognizable Superstar elements while introducing a squared toe, ribbon detailing, a premium leather upper, and a soft lambskin lining. Removable laces allow the shoe to be styled in different ways.

From ballet studio to outer space

The wider collection includes redesigned track tops and pants, wrap skirts, knit cardigans, sheer bodysuits, leggings, hoodies, leg warmers, and cut-out socks.

Its campaign, titled “Cosmic Ballerina: Kinematics,” takes ballet beyond the traditional dance studio and into a dreamlike cosmic setting.

Campaign imagery shows Jennie moving through a surreal environment designed around weightlessness, freedom, and the physical strength behind ballet’s controlled movements.

“With this collaboration, I wanted to reinterpret the classic identity of Adidas Originals through my own perspective and energy,” Jennie said.

She described the project as an effort to bring ballet’s softness and restraint together with its underlying strength and an imagined sense of limitless space.

Jennie also told W Magazine that she retained the basic structure of the Superstar while adding its square toe and ribbons to create the ballet-inspired silhouette.

A relationship years in the making

The collection marks a new stage in Jennie’s long relationship with Adidas.

The South Korean singer has worked with the company since 2018, initially appearing alongside her BLACKPINK bandmates in brand campaigns. In 2020, BLACKPINK joined Adidas Originals’ “Change Is a Team Sport” campaign celebrating the Superstar sneaker’s 50th anniversary.

Jennie later fronted the 2024 campaign for the CLOT Gazelle by Edison Chen, an Adidas collaboration featuring espadrille-inspired construction and a reworked Gazelle silhouette.
