Casablanca – “La Fête du Cinéma” (the cinema party) returns to Morocco from September 10-13 for its third edition, with participating multiplexes across the Kingdom offering tickets at a special MAD 30 ($3) per screening.
According to the press release shared with MWN Lifestyle magazine, the four-day celebration gives moviegoers a chance to enjoy the films currently showing on the big screen at a more accessible price.
The event welcomes everyone, from families and students to regular cinema-goers and those who rarely make it to the theater. It also brings together distributors, cinema operators and other industry professionals around a shared celebration of the seventh art.
‘Les baronnes’ joins the celebration
This year’s edition arrives alongside an exciting new Moroccan release. ‘Les Baronnes,’ the latest film from Belgian-Moroccan director Nabil Ben Yadir, will hit Moroccan cinemas on September 9, just one day before the celebration begins.
The film marks Ben Yadir’s return 15 years after “Les Barons,” his acclaimed 2009 comedy. This time, he shifts the focus to women, following mothers and daughters as they navigate family, identity and their hopes for the future.
The cast brings together Mokhtaria Badaoui, Saadia Bentaieb, Rachida Riahi, Rachida Boughanem, Halima Amrani and Sanya Sridi.
Through its characters and their relationships, “Les Baronnes” combines social commentary with comedy, offering a different perspective from Ben Yadir’s earlier film.
But the celebration is not only about new releases. La Fête du Cinéma also highlights the cinema as a shared cultural experience, bringing audiences together in theaters rather than watching alone at home.
