Rabat  – Moroccan moviegoers can catch Tom Cruise in “Digger” starting from September 30 with the film listed by Pathé for its Moroccan theatrical release.

Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, “Digger” stars Tom Cruise alongside Sandra Hüller and Riz Ahmed in a darkly comic story about power, catastrophe and one man’s rather enormous attempt to save the world.

And because this is Tom Cruise, “saves the world” is hardly an unfamiliar assignment, But this time, there is a twist.

Coming to the Moroccan big screen

Currently the film is listed with a 2-hour-9-minute runtime and identified as a comedy/drama directed by Iñárritu and starring Cruise, Hüller and Ahmed.

Whether you’re there for Cruise, Iñárritu, the deliberately strange premise or simply the irresistible spectacle of one of Hollywood’s biggest stars playing a man who may have made an absolutely catastrophic mistake, “Digger” is bringing something rather different to the big screen.

Cruise himself has described the role as an unusually demanding challenge, calling it the culmination of his abilities as a performer in a recent interview with GQ magazine., he also described Digger as his first non-action, non-franchise film in many years.

Why is ‘Digger’ a new aspect of Tom Cruise?

Well, with Digger, the spectacle appears to be taking a more unusual shape that maybe Tom’s fans are not used to seeing. The film The Wrap. described the film  as a satirical black comedy, built around themes of power, ego and the absurdity of trying to become the savior of humanity after being part of its problems.

This movie is not only different from Cruise’s usual films but also in terms of  the cast itself.

Cruise is joined by Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, Riz Ahmed, Michael Stuhlbarg, and others creating an ensemble that places the actor with other performers known for very different kinds of dramatic and comedic work.

The film’s unusual tone has already generated plenty of curiosity online, including a brief social-media rumor that Digger might secretly be a musical.
