Rabat – Moroccan-Dutch-Egyptian model Imaan Hammam took to the runway at Vogue World Milan on September 22, joining some of the fashion world’s biggest names as the event kicked off Milan Fashion Week.
Imaan brings some Moroccan sparkle to ‘Made in Italy’
Hammam appeared during the show’s “Made in Italy” segment, a colourful chapter inspired by Italian cinema, glamour, and the golden age of La Dolce Vita.
For the occasion, the model wore a bedazzled Versace “Vogue” catsuit from the Spring/Summer 2018 collection, bringing plenty of sparkle to the runway. Vogue described Hammam and fellow model Paloma Elsesser as part of the show’s colourful celebration of “Made in Italy.”
The look was particularly fitting for a segment built around bold prints, saturated colours, and the larger-than-life glamour associated with Italian fashion. Because apparently subtlety was not invited to this particular evening.
A runway inside Milan’s fashion landmark
Milano transformed the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II into a fashion stage, with models walking through the historic landmark during the opening night of Milan Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2027 season.
The show was divided into five acts, moving from Renaissance craftsmanship and industrial tailoring to Made in Italy, technology, and future-facing creativity. The event also featured collaborations with Teatro alla Scala, adding music and performance to the fashion spectacle.
Hammam joined an international cast of models that included Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti, Paloma Elsesser, Irina Shayk, Ashley Graham, Eva Herzigová, Anok Yai, Amelia Gray, and Mariacarla Boscono, among others.
From Moroccan roots to Milan
Hammam, who has Moroccan and Egyptian heritage, has long been a familiar face on major international runways and fashion campaigns.
Her appearance in Milan also comes as the city hosts its Spring/Summer 2027 Fashion Week from September 22 to 28, with major houses including Prada, Fendi, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Moschino, and Giorgio Armani on the schedule.
Vogue’s coverage of the Milan event has placed Hammam prominently among the models representing the show’s interpretation of Italian fashion, with her Versace look appearing as one of the visual highlights of the “Made in Italy” chapter.
