Rabat – The globally acclaimed K-pop group BTS has formally refuted reports suggesting their participation in an upcoming Michael Jackson tribute album.
Speculation had emerged that the band was set to record an unreleased track, reportedly written by Michael Jackson, at an Irish recording studio.
The rumor initially surfaced in “The Sun” an Irish newspaper, which named BTS among “superstar artists” set to contribute reimagined versions for the project. However, the publication later disclaimed the news.
BTS representatives have since clarified that no such collaboration exists, dismissing the reports as unfounded.
HYBE Labels, BTS’s management agency, formally addressed the rumors after fan communities circulated claims of the group’s participation, including assertions that recording sessions had already occurred.
Studio owner Paddy Dunning in Ireland stated Jackson had been developing new material for a career resurgence during this period, though these works remained unfinished at the time of his 2009 passing.
An early version of The Sun’s article included a quote attributed to Mr. Dunning suggesting BTS had visited the studio to record one of Jackson’s unreleased compositions. This statement was later removed from the publication.
BTS has frequently drawn critical comparisons to Jackson dubbed the “King of Pop” for their unprecedented global influence and record-breaking achievements. The group was recently referenced in a documentary commemorating the 40th anniversary of Jackson’s landmark album Thriller.
Following their 2022 hiatus to fulfill South Korea’s mandatory military service requirements, BTS is scheduled to reunite as a full ensemble group in 2025.
