Rabat – Your hair has allegedly survived three months of Moroccan sunshine, beach days, swimming pools, heat styling, salty water, and perhaps one too many “I’ll just leave it like this, it’s fine!” moments.

Well, it was not fine.

If your hair is now dry, frizzy, dull, tangled, or producing more split ends than you can count, congratulations, summer has left the group chat, but the damage remains.

But worry not, you still have time to get your hair back on track if you take it seriously.

The deadly combination

Summer can be particularly tough on your hair. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, sun exposure can leave hair dry and frizzy, especially with pool chlorine that can cause breakage and split ends.

Fortunately, your hair does not need thousands of products or seventeen mysterious “10-in-1” oils. It needs a little patience and some sensible post-summer care.

Trust your conditioner

After weeks of sunscreen, sweat, salt water, chlorine and styling products, your scalp deserves a proper wash.

But this is not an invitation to suffocate it with shampoo like you are scrubbing a burnt couscous pot. Be gentle.

The American Academy recommends concentrating shampoo on the scalp rather than aggressively rubbing it through the lengths.

Follow with a nurturing conditioner that suits your hair nature, not what you see viral. Use it particularly on the ends, which are generally the oldest and most fragile part of your hair.

The conditioner helps reduce friction and makes hair easier to detangle. For particularly dry or damaged hair, consider adding a deeper conditioning treatment to your weekly routine.

Moroccan Argan oil or the ‘liquid gold’

Argan oil, sometimes called “liquid gold,” comes from the argan tree, which is native to Morocco.

According to a dermatologist-reviewed guide from Cleveland Clinic, the fatty acids in argan oil can help moisturize hair, reduce frizz and provide a protective layer around the strands.

For a simple weekly treatment, apply a small amount of pure argan oil to your dry hair or ends. Leave it for some time then wash your hair as usual.

Pure and original argan oil might be a bit pricey, but your post-summer hair may appreciate it.

Just don’t drown your scalp in oil simply because the internet told you to. Cleveland Clinic notes that heavy scalp oiling is not suitable for everyone and may aggravate dandruff in some people.

Have mercy on your hair, no more heat!

Excessive heat can make already fragile hair even more vulnerable to damage. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends limiting heated styling tools and using the lowest practical temperature when they are necessary.

Let your hair air-dry whenever possible. Experiment with your natural texture and give the curling iron a few weeks to contemplate what it has done.

The magic of trimming

Sometimes, the healthiest thing you can do is admit that some things are beyond saving.

If your ends are badly split or breaking, a trim can remove the visibly damaged sections. Oils and conditioners can improve the appearance and feel of damaged hair, but they cannot permanently repair a split end.

It’s not over yet

The sun did not suddenly become harmless just because September arrived.

Cleveland Clinic recommends physical protection such as hats and scarves to help shield your hair from continued sun exposure, especially while recovering from summer damage.

Post-summer recovery is less about finding one miraculous product and more about stopping the habits that caused the damage in the first place.

Reduce heat styling, avoid excessively tight hairstyles, space out chemical treatments, condition regularly, and handle your hair gently.

Your hair does not ask for the impossible, it just needs consistency, moisture, protection, and perhaps a little less abuse from the tools we insist on calling “beauty essentials.”

Seek help when needed

If your hair continues to break, thin, or fall out despite changing your routine, consider seeing a dermatologist, or check your iron and vitamin D level.

Persistent hair problems can have causes unrelated to ordinary summer damage, and may require professional evaluation.

So put down the straightener, reach for the conditioner, borrow a little Moroccan argan oil wisdom, and let your hair take a deep breath.

Because apparently, even our hair needs a reset.
