Marrakech – Henri Giscard d’Estaing, President of Club Med, and Madaëf, the tourism investment company, unveiled on Thursday, May 16, the brand-new family retreat, “Le Ksar,” in the heart of Club Med Marrakech Palmeraie, a press release shared with Morocco World News stated.
At the heart of the ceremony stood esteemed figures, each contributing to the event’s significance with their presence.
Among them were notable luminaries such as Fatim-Zahra Ammor; the Minister of Tourism, Crafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Farid Chourak; the Wali of Marrakech, and Ghizlane Khaloufi; the Deputy General Manager of Madaëf.
Adding to the prestige were Imad Barrakad; General Director of SMIT, and Samir Goudar; President of the Marrakech-Safi region.
After 16 months of labor and a total investment of approximately 210 million dirhams, Madaëf, and Club Med unveiled today “Le Ksar.”
Quoted in the press release, Ammor remarked that “this expansion is a strong signal demonstrating the interest of investors and international brands in our destination.” She continued;“ accommodation presents a real challenge in the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap, especially given the requirements arising from the major events that Morocco will host.”
This partnership is an extension of the close and historic ties that have linked Morocco and Club Med since 1963 when the latter first established itself in Al Hoceima.
According to the press release, Club Med has since joined forces with Madaëf, a leader in tourist investment in the Kingdom, to strengthen its position as a major player in the national tourism market.
With this vision, Marrakech welcomed the La Palmeraie village in 2004.
According to the release, the president of Club Med also gave remarks.
“For over 60 years, Club Med has been proud to contribute to the remarkable tourism development of the Kingdom. Morocco has consistently been at the heart of Club Med’s major advancements,” he said.
He added that today marks a joyous milestone as we celebrate the remarkable evolution of Club Med, a journey that began in 2004, culminating here in Marrakech, a place deeply ingrained in our company’s rich history.
“Le Ksar” is named after Moroccan fortified villages and opened its doors in April 2024.
This family retreat is a true extension of the resort, aimed at enhancing the family stay experience.
The 66 specially designed rooms cater to families; revolving around a central area featuring a pool for both kids and adults, a paddling pool, a dedicated water play area, and a pool with slides.
The construction of this extension aims to achieve the “Very Good” level of the “Haute Qualité Environnementale” (HQE) certification, which aims to minimize the environmental impacts of a rehabilitation or real estate construction operation.
In addition to “Le Ksar,” 25 accommodations for staff have been added, contributing to the creation of over 30 jobs.
In line with environmental respect and sustainability, filtering basins have been integrated into the Resort to purify wastewater for reuse in garden irrigation.
Another highlight of Club Med Marrakech La Palmeraie is the opening of a Baby Club Med, catering to infants from 4 months to 23 months old.
This addition complements the resort’s children’s clubs, catering to the youngest of travelers, including teenagers.
