Rabat – When we asked ChatGPT about Moroccan habits that it struggles to make sense of, the responses were hilarious – and somehow very Moroccan.

The first thing that blew AI’s mind? Moroccan generosity. The classic “come eat with us” habit. The food might clearly be enough for three people, but somehow it magically feeds seven more — neighbors, cousins, and that one friend who “just passed by.” ChatGPT seriously wondered, “how does a Moroccan table somehow stretch to feed everyone?”

Next on the list: the “I’m on my way” mindset, when the person is probably still in bed. Even ChatGPT is now aware of the Moroccan reputation for punctuality — or lack of it. Apparently, among Moroccans, Bluetooth is always activated. When someone says “I’m on my way,” it is automatically translated to “I’ll be there in one hour.”

And it doesn’t stop there. AI finds it hard to process “the endless tea refills.” For ChatGPT, one glass of tea might be enough, but in a Moroccan household, you cannot leave until your bloodstream is at least 80% mint and sugar.

Then comes the “goodbye” that lasts a lifetime. Moroccans say goodbye… but do they really leave? 30 minutes later, they’re still talking through the door. At this point, ChatGPT was completely baffled. In Morocco, goodbye doesn’t always mean leaving – it’s just a warm-up for actually walking out an hour later.

ChatGPT summed it up perfectly at the end, saying, “some things — like warmth, generosity, and a bit of chaos — can’t be programmed.”

And it’s true. These habits carry the fingerprint of Morocco and reflect the noble values present in every Moroccan home. Confusing? Maybe. But they capture the heart of what it means to live “the Moroccan way.”
