Rabat – Moroccan comedy duo Said & Wadie are stepping into television writing with their first TV film “Cha’la,” set to air this Friday on Al Aoula, as part of the channel’s Ramadan lineup.

For years, they have written their own stage material, shaping sketches that rely on timing and direct interaction with the crowd. This time, the challenge was different, slower, and more layered.

Moving from stage scripts to television meant adjusting their rhythm and expanding their storytelling beyond punchlines.

Directed by Hicham El Jebbari, the film is written by Wadie Raji and Said Halim (Said & Wadie) in collaboration with Adil Yachfine

It reportedly revolves around a story about friendship pushed to its limits. A proposal that should have been simple becomes the trigger for tension. The conflict moves beyond words.

What starts as disappointment turns into confrontation, forcing the characters into a situation where emotions take over and loyalties are tested.

Even when the plot leans into social conflict, their instinct is to slip humor into the cracks, softening heavy moments without emptying them of meaning.

The tone stays close to what viewers expect from the pair. Humor is present, but it does not cancel the seriousness of the moment, which gives the story a social edge rather than a purely comedic one.

Alongside the comedy pair, the movie features Abderrahim Elmaniari, Fatima Boujou, Abdelhak Saleh, and Khaoula Hjaouej among others.

The duo are still on the road with their show “Ztek Taw.” After performing in Casablanca yesterday, they will head to Fez on March 13.

Safi will host the next stop on Eid al-Fitr, followed by Oujda on April 18 and Tangier on May 9 to wrap up this leg of the tour.”

Moving between television and theaters says something about their current phase. They are expanding, but carefully, testing a new format while staying close to the audience that shaped their voice in the first place.
