Casablanca – Tunis came alive on Wednesday night with the legendary Moroccan band Nass El Ghiwane as part of the “Ramadan in the City” festival.

The performance brought together Moroccan and Tunisian fans for a night full of music, nostalgia, and shared memories.

Fans were treated to a selection of the band’s timeless hits, including “Essiniya,” “Ghir Khoudouni,” “Lahmami,” and “Fine Ghadi Biya Khouya” alongside the iconic “Sabra Ou Chatila.”

Formed in Casablanca in the early 1970s, Nass El Ghiwane didn’t just make music – they gave it a heartbeat. Fusing traditional Gnaoua, Amazigh and folk rhythms with lyrics that spoke to the struggles, dreams, and spirit of everyday life, the band became the voice of a generation.

Their songs are more than melodies; they are stories, memories, and a pulse of Moroccan identity that continue to ripple across North Africa and the Arab world, inspiring artists and moving audiences decades later.

These songs, spanning decades, still carry the emotional weight and energy that made them classics. They reminded everyone of the power of music to connect generations.

“Ramadan in the City” creates a space for fans to enjoy music throughout the holy month. The festival, running from February 21 to March 17, brings together Tunisian, Arab, and international artists for a varied and ambitious program celebrating culture, creativity, and the spirit of Ramadan.

Nass El Ghiwane’s appearance added a magical touch, bridging past and present and reminding everyone why their music has remained beloved for so long.

From the first notes to the final applause, the band had the audience singing, dancing, and feeling the unique atmosphere that only live music can create.

For fans of Moroccan music, and those discovering it for the first time, it was a night to remember – a celebration of heritage, rhythm, and the enduring power of Nass El Ghiwane.
