Casablanca – Iraqi superstar Kadim Al Sahir added another milestone to his long career, this time joining the “Recording Academy,” the organization behind the Grammy Awards.
The Iraqi superstar accepted an invitation to become a member, placing him among a wider community of musicians, recording professionals, and industry experts from around the world.
The invitation comes as part of the Academy’s new membership class for 2026, which welcomed more than 4,000 professionals representing different musical genres, backgrounds, and areas of the industry.
But what does becoming a member actually mean?
The Recording Academy brings together professionals from across the recording industry, with membership offering eligible creators a chance to take part in the Academy’s professional community and, depending on their qualifications, participate in parts of the Grammy Awards process.
Members who meet the requirements can also submit their work for consideration during the Academy’s designated submission periods.
From there, recordings go through eligibility and category reviews before reaching the voting stages.
For an artist whose career has crossed generations and borders, becoming part of the Recording Academy adds another international chapter to Al Sahir’s musical journey.
A busy artistic schedule
The announcement comes at a busy point in Al Sahir’s artistic calendar, with the “Caesar” continuing to roll out his upcoming album one song at a time.
So far, the rollout has brought listeners songs including “Howa Enta” and “Ella Ajeebak,” with “Ahbab” next in line, set for release on Thursday.
His schedule is just as active on stage. After performing in Istanbul on August 8, Al Sahir is heading to Amman on August 20, before heading to Sydney for concerts on November 20 and 21.
With new music arriving alongside an international run of performances, Al Sahir continues to keep both sides of his artistic career moving, adding his new Recording Academy membership to an already active chapter.
