“The Love Hypothesis,” the highly anticipated film adaptation of Ali Hazelwood’s bestselling novel, will begin streaming globally on Prime Video on September 23, making the film available to viewers in Morocco as part of its worldwide release.
Starring Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman, the romantic comedy follows Olive Smith, a biology PhD candidate whose carefully organised academic life takes an unexpected turn when she starts to act impulsively intimidating professor Adam Carlsen.
The premise may sound like a classic romantic-comedy experiment: can two people pretend to be in love without actually falling for each other? In this case, the answer appears to be scientifically questionable, actually nobody knows!
Based on Hazelwood’s 2021 New York Times bestselling novel, the film brings one of the most recognisable romance-book tropes, fake dating, into the world of academia.
Hazelwood’s story originally gained a huge readership for combining romance with women in STEM, while its film adaptation has been developed with director Claire Scanlon and screenwriter Sarah Rothschild.
In interviews, Reinhart and Bateman have discussed the challenge of translating a much-loved book to the screen while preserving what made the original romance work.
Reinhart initially hesitated over taking on another romantic comedy, but said the script eventually convinced her of the story’s charm and its slower-burn romance.
The film’s promotional campaign has already begun building anticipation, with Prime Video releasing its full trailer in August.
