Marrakech – American R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested early this morning at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester, England.
The arrest stems from an alleged assault on music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair district in February 2023. Brown is accused of striking Diaw over the head with a bottle and then punching and kicking him, resulting in serious injuries.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Brown was taken into custody on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
Diaw has filed a civil lawsuit against Brown, seeking $16 million (MAD 159 Million) in damages for injuries and financial losses resulting from the alleged attack.
Brown’s arrest comes just weeks before the scheduled start of his “Breezy Bowl XX” world tour, which includes performances in several UK cities.
The impact of the arrest on the tour schedule has not been announced.
Representatives for Brown have not yet commented on the arrest. The investigation is still ongoing.
