Rabat – After facing significant backlash and criticism for her political posts supporting Palestine during her “Snow White” press campaign, Rachel Zegler recently spoke out about the issue in an interview with i-D.

“There are obviously things that are at stake by being outspoken, but nothing is worth innocent lives. My heart doesn’t have a fence around it, and if that is considered my downfall? There are worse things,” she shared.

The 24-year-old actress remained committed to her beliefs, demonstrating strong conviction.

She feels that her platform is her responsibility and that she has the right to use it as she sees fit, particularly when it comes to defending human rights.

Although it might be normalized, Zegler refuses to adhere to the idea that, as a celebrity, she should water down her opinions or align with public sentiment just to protect her success.

Zegler emphasizes that her advocacy for the Palestinian cause comes from a deep-rooted belief in universal human rights, stating, “It’s the way I was raised”.

This backlash sparked in August 2023, when she posted on X the first official trailer of the “Snow White” movie expressing her gratitude towards her fans followed by “and always remember, free Palestine.”

Her political outspokenness led to her being blamed for the film’s weak box office performance, despite the production facing several creative challenges and receiving mixed reviews.
