Rabat – Morocco has witnessed a significant surge in popularity among British holidaymakers, with interest in the country increasing by nearly 80% compared to last year, according to TripAdvisor.

“We are delighted to see Morocco becoming a popular destination among British tourists,” said Morocco’s Minister of Tourism Fatim-Zahra Ammor, highlighting her ministry’s efforts in promoting the country as a travel destination in international markets.

“This comes as no surprise, considering all the promotional and airline efforts we have invested in the British market, which is our third largest source of tourists,” Ammor added.

The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) has recently announced the introduction of additional flight routes from the UK to cater to growing demand. These include connections from Glasgow to Agadir with EasyJet, and from London to Essaouira and Ouarzazate with Ryanair, according to British outlet Travel Daily Media.

With a 4.56 traveler rating on TripAdvisor, Morocco has outshined traditional favorites, including Spain (4.30), Travel Daily Media added. In addition, Morocco’s accommodations, restaurants, and tourist attractions have received a higher rating than those in Spain.

Ammor said that Morocco is “the perfect long-haul destination with convenient short-haul flights,” highlighting the unique and unmatched travel experience that the country offers tourists.

The minister added that she is confident that British tourists “will have a wonderful time exploring all that our country has to offer and will leave with unforgettable memories!”

In addition, she congratulated ONMT on their commitment and efforts to position Morocco among the top, most popular travel destinations in the world, notably through its recent campaign “Morocco, Land of Light.”

Earlier this month, the office unveiled its “Light in Action” action plan for the period 2023-2026, aiming at placing Morocco among the world’s top 10 travel destinations.

Thanks to its vibrant culture, rich history, climate, and affordability, Morocco has become an appealing travel destination for British tourists in recent years.
