Rabat – The 29th edition of the International Book Fair in Rabat concluded on Sunday, marking a record-breaking event. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, with UNESCO as a guest of honor.
In a press release, the ministry revealed that the fair saw the participation of 743 exhibitors, representing 48 countries. They presented a wide range of approximately 100,000 different book titles, which covered a variety of subjects, areas of knowledge, and forms of creative expression.
The cultural program was notably rich and varied, transforming the fair’s venues into intellectual and creative hubs, added the statement.
Over 1,480 cultural activities were held, including 320 directly organized by the ministry or in partnership with participating research and governmental centers.
More than 3,703 participants contributed to the cultural programming, including 885 speakers from the ministry’s program.
For the younger audience, the fair presented an educational and entertaining program under the theme “Happiness in Colors,” aimed at knowledge development through over 10,000 workshops.
The fair introduced, for the first time, a new space dedicated to the works of renowned Marvel and DC Comics artists and creators. This area hosted more than 51 activities, which was attended by 15,000 people throughout the fair’s duration.
The ministry noted that media coverage of the event was extensive, facilitated through partnerships with 68 media organizations, including television, radio, print, and online outlets, both from Morocco and abroad.
Notably, the fair attracted over 316,000 visitors, representing a 32% increase compared to previous years.
“With these impressive statistics, the 29th edition has reached a new milestone in the journey of this major cultural event, demonstrating in each edition the value and effectiveness of the efforts made to bring books closer to the public,” concluded the statement.
