Marrakech – In Between Blues, a major artistic and cultural project to be presented at DaDa Marrakech from 3 February to 30 March, as part of the official Special Projects of the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair Marrakech.

Conceived as an exploration of the colour blue; its histories, material presence, and symbolic resonance, “In Between Blues” brings together an intergenerational group of artists from across the African continent and its diaspora.

Through sculpture, installation, textile, and design, the project examines blue as a space of memory, identity, movement, and transformation, inviting audiences into a rich, multisensor

Curated by French-Rwandan independent curator and ABLAKASSA co-founder Roger Karera, alongside renowned Ivorian designer Jean Servais Somian, the project unfolds across several interconnected environments.

These include BLUE, the main exhibition space; BLUE NOTE, an intimate jazz setting; BLUE NIGHT, a series of daily gatherings extending the experience beyond the fair; and THE BLUE TASTE, an immersive chocolate tasting journey. Together, these elements create a layered encounter where art, sound, and gastronomy intersect.

The participating artists are Osias Andremoiane, Karim Bennani, Alex Burke, Louis Barthélemy, Sanaa Gateja, Ahmed Hajoubi, Pascal Konan, Abdoulaye Konaté, Awa Maïté, Zineb Mezzour, Sadikou Oukpedjo, Ghizlaine Sahli, Jean Servais Somian, Houda Terjuman, and Barthélémy Toguo, with a very special guest to be announced.

In Between Blues is imagined and curated by Roger Karera, co-founder of ABLAKASSA.

The project is organised by ABLAKASSA in collaboration with the participating artists, partner galleries, institutional partners, and sponsors. It is produced by DaDa Marrakech, with the special support of the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair.
