Washington – Family-owned businesses make up around 92.9% of Moroccan businesses and employ about 6.3 million people.

Some businesses stood out from the others for their core values, careful sourcing, and strong success.

Here are four family-owned businesses that customers have taken a liking to.

The 3 Vegetables

With over 25 years of experience, 500 hectares under cultivation, and 30+ countries served, The 3 Vegetables Moroccan farm is dedicated to providing fresh produce to markets across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.

This success started in the 1990s with only a small, modest plot of land in the Souss Valley, and eventually turned into one of Morocco’s leading agricultural exporters.

Combining traditional farming knowledge with technology that is more modern, they produce crops with high international standard clearance.

Refined techniques, expansion, and strong relationships with buyers across four continents have developed over the three generations that this company has been in business.

Their roots remain in Morocco, with all the major ports included: Agadir, Casablanca, and Tangier Med.

These ports give The 3 Vegetables direct access to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.

As the company goes on, so do its core values.

They practice six values within their work: sustainability, family tradition, quality excellence, community care, global responsibility, and reliable service.

Following generational knowledge with every decision made on the farm and off, practices that protect soil, water, and biodiversity are emphasized throughout their work.

Their global responsibility weighs on their decision-making, as impacting the environment the right way is important to them, and that goes hand-in-hand with their high-quality produce for customers.

Customers can rely on consistent delivery and quality that the company has promised for over two decades to remain the same.

Along with high-quality produce and reliable service, the farm invests in local communities by offering fair wages, safe working conditions, and opportunities to grow, helping build and strengthen the community around farming.

Helping the efficiency of the farm, they have advanced equipment for sorting, grading, and cold storage systems, giving 20 tons of produce to be processed at a time.

200 workers cover these grounds all year, every year, and during the busier, peak harvesting seasons, 500 workers are employed to keep things running smoothly.

With a multitude of crops grown in The 3 Vegetables farm, sustainability, quality, and efficiency are at the heart of this Moroccan family-owned farm.

Atlas olive oils

For over a century, this family-owned olive oil company has had the passion and devotion to agriculture.

The Aqallal Family is renowned for its engagement in the development and excellence of agriculture, originating in the ancient city of Fes.

The ancestor of these oliverons, Boujida Aqallal, was named “Amine El-Fellaha” of Fez, meaning “the wisest of the farmers”, because of his olive-growing traditions.

As a result of four generations of knowledge, the company’s extra virgin olive oil has made history in Morocco today.

With harsh, rocky desert conditions and high temperature changes, the farm removed more than a whopping 480,000 cubic meters of stones, and they then hand-built a wall out of stone to keep the agronomic characteristics that the olive trees require for fine production.

153 hectares of olive trees are watered by the Atlas, giving a real sanctuary for high-quality and aromatic olive oil production.

Committed to producing only the finest of olive oils, their values hold strong.

Respect for territory and people, love for tradition, and passion for innovation run deep through this farm.

Since olive oil has been in the family for more than a century, producing nectar fruit juice made of the most superior olives, and having the highest possible quality is their aim.

Respecting the land on which they produce, the environment, soil preparation, grove management, processing, blending, and guarantee for the best is within their parameters to follow, giving their customers the best of the best.

The Atlas Olive Oils estates are located in El-Borouj, Marrakech, and Beni-Mellal, and you can only find these products in the best international gourmet stores.

Al Fassia

Al Fassia started out as just a dream that the Chab family had, but eventually, the dream became reality.

Not only is Al Fassia an all-women-employee restaurant, but it is also an endearing hotel with 27 bedrooms and suites, with every woman trained in service and cooking.

Saida and Myra Chab both took over the family business after their mother stopped working in the kitchen, but since they are all family, their values have stayed the same since 1987, their debut year.

Authenticity and calmness are running themes throughout this establishment, making every customer and guest feel at home.

Majority of their food products come from local producers and from their very own garden, providing fresh ingredients for every meal, with no imported food ever.

Without the whole family, this vision wouldn’t have been able to come to life; everyone did their part in the making of this successful business.

Two Al Fassia restaurants are on the map– one in Gueliz and the other in Aguedal; both have the same cuisine with a different atmosphere, but still make sure the guests feel at home.

Apart from the two restaurants, the Al Fassia hotel provides a luxurious stay with accommodations like relaxation massages, foot massages, a hammam, and more.

With the finest Moroccan cuisine and luxury services, the family-owned business has made its path unique.
