Rabat – Born in Meknes and raised in Fnideq, Moroccan rapper L7or, whose real name is Mourad Halhoul, has built his career around one guiding principle: freedom.

To him, rap is more than music, it is a space to express truth, reflect on life, and connect with others.

L7or sees each release as a responsibility. In an interview with MWN Lifestyle magazine, he opens up about his name, his creative process, the impact of his music, and what listeners can expect next.

‘L7or is the part of me that speaks freely’

“The name ‘L7or’ sums up the idea I wanted to communicate from the beginning; freedom,” he told MWN Lifestyle magazine.

“Freedom of expression, freedom of thought, and the freedom for a person to be themselves without wearing a mask to please others.”

That vision remains central to his work as an artist who uses rap to speak honestly, without compromising the person behind the music.

Staying real in a world full of trends

“I follow the evolution of the scene and listen to many styles, but I do not let trends change my identity,” he emphasized.

“I can develop my production or my approach, but the message and honesty that define me must remain present.”

For L7or, growth is essential, but imitation is not.

“Evolution is necessary, but copying is not.”

Keeping the unspoken emotions real

For L7or, songwriting begins with honesty. Whether inspired by his own experiences or the stories of people around him, he believes the strongest songs are rooted in genuine emotion.

“It is a mix of personal experiences and the situations I live through or notice in other people. Any subject that moves something in me, or deserves to be said, I try to express in my own way,” he highlighted.

He believes honesty is what turns a song into something personal for its audience.

“Sincerity is what makes a listener feel that a song is telling their own story.”

The power of music

Hearing that his music has helped people through difficult moments is what L7or considers his proudest achievement.

“That is the greatest reward for me. When someone tells you that one of your songs helped them be patient or gave them hope, you understand that music has a value greater than numbers and views,” he said.

For the Poet of Sorrows, that connection brings responsibility.

“It makes me careful with every word I write.”

How songs are born

“Every song has its own journey. It starts with an idea or a feeling. Then I write the lyrics until I feel they say exactly what I want to communicate,” he stated.

From there, L7or collaborates with his production team to shape the melody and arrangement, refining the track until it becomes a version he fully believes in.

L7or says his latest track, “3onwan,” featuring Mouh Milano, took time to complete as he carefully refined every detail.

“I focus on every song I make because it is a message. It has its own moment, and it needs to reach the people it is meant for.”

How has fame changed his life

Fame has brought both opportunities and greater responsibility, according to L7or.

While his growing audience has opened new doors and allowed his music to reach more people, it has also come at the cost of privacy.

“Fame definitely changes a lot of things. I have more responsibility, and I have less privacy, but it has also opened doors and given me opportunities to bring my voice to a wider audience.”

Despite those changes, L7or is determined to remain grounded.

“I always try to stay close to reality and not let fame change my principles.”

What can listeners expect from his next projects

L7or says fans can expect new music that reflects both artistic growth and the values that have always defined his work.

“I am preparing new work with different ideas and special collaborations. I am working to make every release better than the one before it.”

Without giving away too much, L7or hints at honest music, meaningful artistic growth, and several “beautiful surprises” that fans can look forward to in the coming months.

For L7or, the journey is not about chasing a moment. It is about creating music with purpose songs that reflect freedom, carry meaning and find the people who need to hear them.
