Rabat – Amazon Prime Video is bringing a mix of coming-of-age drama, survival adventure, action, and thriller titles to viewers this August. 

Here are five recent releases and what their stories are about.

‘Sterling Point’

Sterling Point follows 17-year-old Annie Jacobson, whose life takes an unexpected turn after she discovers that she has inherited a remote island in Canada from an estranged grandfather she was never allowed to meet. 

Instead of simply accepting the inheritance, Annie decides to investigate her mysterious family connection. 

Her search leads her into a world of buried secrets, unexpected sisterhood, new friendships and complicated romances, while forcing her to confront a family history she was never supposed to uncover. 

‘The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls’

This six-part adventure series takes the cast of The Chosen far away from their usual set and into the wilderness with survival expert Bear Grylls. 

Each episode puts members of the cast through demanding outdoor challenges, including skydiving, climbing cliffs, crossing rivers and navigating rugged terrain. 

Beyond the physical challenges, the series gives the cast space to talk about faith, fear, personal experiences and what their beliefs mean to them. 

‘Reacher’ Season 4

The fourth season of Reacher puts Jack Reacher in the middle of another mystery after he witnesses a woman die by suicide on a New York City subway. 

What initially appears to be a tragic incident soon raises questions for Reacher, pushing him to investigate what really happened. 

His search pulls him into a dangerous conspiracy and a shadowy conflict where uncovering the truth could put him directly in the path of powerful enemies. The season is based on Lee Child’s novel Gone Tomorrow. 

‘The Gates’

The Gates follows three college friends, Derek, Kevin and Tyon, whose road trip takes a terrifying turn when they take a shortcut through a heavily secured gated community. 

After witnessing a murder, the three men suddenly find themselves trapped inside the neighborhood. 

The residents turn against them, and what begins as an ordinary trip becomes a fight for survival as the friends are hunted through the community. 

The thriller also explores themes of racial profiling, suspicion and the fear of being treated as a threat simply because of how others perceive you. 

‘Piece by Piece’

Unlike the other titles, Piece by Piece tells a real-life story through an unusual format, LEGO animation. 

The film follows the life and career of Pharrell Williams, tracing his journey from his early years and musical influences to his rise as one of the biggest names in music and fashion. 

Through colorful LEGO recreations and interviews with Pharrell and people who have worked with him, the film turns his career into a playful animated biography while exploring the creativity and determination behind his success.
