Fez — MrBeast has spent years giving away money through elaborate YouTube challenges. Now, the world’s biggest creator is hiding his next competition somewhere far less expected: inside a book.
Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, released his first novel, “The Most Dangerous Games,” on September 1 alongside bestselling thriller writer James Patterson.
But buying the book can unlock more than its fictional story.
MrBeast’s official store states that physical English editions serve as entry into a real competition offering one winner a $1 million (MAD 9.3 million) prize.
The book contains clues and hidden Easter eggs that participants will need while competing in a series of weekly elimination challenges, according to information reported about the launch.
In other words, MrBeast has effectively turned his first novel into a treasure-hunt-style game.
The book is part thriller, part challenge
“The Most Dangerous Games” is a 480-page survival thriller published by William Morrow.
The fictional story takes MrBeast’s familiar challenge format to an extreme.
A thousand people receive invitations. One hundred enter a competition spanning dangerous environments, including Antarctica, remote islands, deserts, mountains, and caves.
The fictional prize is even larger than the real one: $1 billion.
HarperCollins describes the story as a high-stakes survival competition in which contestants are pushed through increasingly dangerous challenges.
Donaldson and Patterson have also said they hope the collaboration can persuade younger audiences to read.
Donaldson explained that he became interested in books later in life and wants younger fans to discover that reading can be entertaining.
That makes the real-world competition a particularly MrBeast-style solution: if millions of young followers spend their time watching challenges online, put the challenge inside the book.
How the $1 million competition works
The competition begins September 14, while registration remains open from September 1 through October 11.
Participants need proof that they purchased a physical English-language edition of “The Most Dangerous Games.”
The official listing specifies that entrants must be at least 18 and legal residents of Australia, Mexico, the United Kingdom, or eligible US jurisdictions. Maryland residents are excluded. Potential finalists must also pass a background check.
That means readers living in Morocco are not currently eligible to enter under the published rules, even though they can still buy and read the novel.
The contest website hosts the competition portal and official information for participants.
MrBeast has built his career around making increasingly improbable challenges feel irresistible. With “The Most Dangerous Games,” that formula has moved from YouTube into publishing.
