This British artist has done something unexpected with our famous Mona Lisa.
Rabat – For Imbue, the “sea of iPhones” that blocked his sight to the Mona Lisa view was infuriating and disappointed when he visited the Louvres in Paris.
This experience inspired him to recreate the portrait, using 100 iPhone replicas highlighting how people can travel all over only to see the scene on the screen.
“Everyone wants to capture moments and they don’t want to miss out on the memory but they end up missing out what’s happening by using their phone,” The 37-years old stated.
“I’m not trying to hammer something home but I think people will smile and get the idea of experiencing things for real rather than looking through your phone.”
So, instead of seeing the small tiles which display a special part of the painting, it will be replaced by iPhones, shaping at the end a mosaic that collectively reveals the iconic image.
After 17 years of being in love with the art, Imbue finally made it, and now he has been a full-time artist for roughly 20 years and is hosting his latest exhibition in Digbeth, Birmingham.
