Rabat – According to the BBC, high profile Turkish singers, actors, and influencers were summoned on Wednesday, October 8 by the Narcotics Crime Bureau in Istanbul. 19 artists are under investigation for drug use and allegations for promoting drug use.
Turkish media reported that the suspected artists are being questioned for their statements regarding the allegations, and blood tests will be required. The investigation is expected to include other celebrities.
Al Arabiya reported that the investigation of several celebrities – including Hadise, Birce Akalay, Dilan Polat, Engin Polat, Irim Derci, Kublai Aka, Kaan Yıldırım, Birak Tuzunataç, Demet Evgar, Özge Özpirinçi, Mert Yazıcıoğlu, Zenit Sali, and others – is not an official arrest. The artists will be released after blood samples are collected.
The accusations are receiving much attention on social media. The public is reacting to the incident and calling it a “Celebrities Scandal.” Meanwhile, neither the celebrities nor the public prosecution have provided any official statement or further details.
