Marrakech – The Marrakech Short Film Festival (MARRAKECHsFF) has announced that its founding director, Ramia Beladel, has been appointed as a member of the International Jury of ZINEBI – the International Festival of Documentary and Short Film of Bilbao, one of the world’s most respected Category A film festivals.

Beladel’s appointment marks a historic moment. She is the first Moroccan ever to join ZINEBI’s international jury, a milestone that celebrates the rising influence of Moroccan cinema and its new generation of creative leaders.

Accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), ZINEBI is renowned for promoting excellence in short and documentary filmmaking while fostering diverse cinematic voices.

Now in its 67th edition, the Bilbao-based festival continues to be a key platform for artistic experimentation and cultural dialogue.

Ramia Beladel’s participation underscores the growing international recognition of the Marrakech Short Film Festival, which she founded on principles of resilience, inclusion, and cross-cultural exchange.

Since its inception, MARRAKECHsFF has championed emerging filmmakers from Morocco and beyond, elevating short films as a powerful medium for storytelling and connection.

“This appointment is not only an honor but also a symbol of how far Moroccan cinema has come,” said Ramia Beladel in a press release shared with MWN.

“It reflects the collective effort of a festival born out of passion, courage, and a belief in the transformative power of cinema.”
