Casablanca – Iraqi singer Kadim Al Sahir continues his return to the Iraqi dialect with the release of “Ella Ajeebak,” released on Friday.

Written and composed by the “Caesar” himself, the track was produced by his son, Wissam Al Sahir.

As with much of his repertoire, the song carries his signature romantic style, with women remaining a central presence in his artistic universe across themes of admiration, devotion, and emotional longing.

In “Ella Ajeebak,” Al Sahir explores unwavering love and emotional attachment, portraying a man unwilling to give up on the woman he loves despite the pain of separation.

Throughout the lyrics, she is described as a source of belonging and comfort, reinforcing the song’s deeply sentimental tone.

The theme is consistent with an artist whose work has long placed women at the heart of its narratives. Across decades, Kadim Al Sahir’s music has often centered on female figures, expressed through devotion, praise, and poetic expressions of love.

“Ella Ajeebak” follows the release of another Iraqi-dialect song, “Mata,” which debuted on May 21.

While the newer release leans into devotion and longing, “Mata” embraces a more melancholic atmosphere, revolving around questions of absence, heartbreak, and the weight of waiting.

The song reflects on the emotional toll of separation, with Al Sahir expressing a yearning for the return of a loved one and the hope that sorrow will eventually come to an end.

A legacy built on poetry and romance

Part of Al Sahir’s enduring appeal lies in his long-standing connection to poetry, particularly through his celebrated collaboration with the late Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani.

Known for poetry that frequently explored women and love,Qabbani’s words found a natural home in Al Sahir’s music, reinforcing a shared artistic direction that places women and emotional storytelling at the center of many of their works.

Over the years, Al Sahir composed and performed numerous poems by Qabbani, helping bring the poet’s words to wider audiences across the Arab world.

The partnership became one of the most recognizable artistic collaborations in modern Arabic music, blending poetic expression with Al Sahir’s distinctive compositions and vocal delivery.

Over the decades, Kadim Al Sahir has built a body of work that resonates across generations. His music, often rooted in themes of love, longing, and emotional devotion, has earned him a loyal following throughout the Arab world and beyond.

Beyond the music itself, Al Sahir has also maintained a public image marked by elegance, composure, and a refined stage presence that has remained largely unchanged throughout his career.

Decades after his debut, Kadim Al Sahir continues to attract both longtime admirers and newer listeners, demonstrating the lasting appeal of an artistic style that has remained remarkably consistent while continuing to find new audiences.
