Fez — M’diq will host the 22nd “Semaine Internationale Nautique de M’diq” (M’diq International Nautical Week), known as SNIM, from June 30 to July 5, bringing the northern coastal city back into Morocco’s sailing calendar.

Organized by the Royal Yacht Club of M’diq, the event has become one of Morocco’s established nautical gatherings. Its 2026 edition will take place across M’diq and Marina Smir, with the awards ceremony scheduled for Sunday, July 5.

The week will gather Moroccan and foreign crews in a city deeply tied to the sea. M’diq’s port, Mediterranean horizon, and maritime communities give the event a setting where sport and local identity naturally meet.

A bridge between Morocco and Spain

This year’s edition will also carry a strong Mediterranean dimension through the Ruta del Sol Fuengirola–M’diq. The crossing, organized in partnership with Club Náutico Fuengirola, links southern Spain to Morocco’s northern coast and marks its 25th edition this year.

The route gives SNIM more than a competitive frame. It turns the regatta into a sporting bridge between the two shores, built through years of cooperation between clubs, sailors, and sailing communities.

The program will include light sailing regattas and the Throne Day Cup, dedicated to habitable boats. These races will bring together younger sailors and more experienced crews, keeping the event connected to both training and high-level practice.

SNIM will also preserve its link with M’diq’s fishing culture through the fishermen’s rowing boat race. The race brings the city’s maritime memory into the program and keeps the port’s working communities visible alongside formal sailing competitions.

The 2026 edition will include a kayaking activity for children with specific needs, giving the event an inclusive dimension and presenting the sea as a space of discovery, access, and shared experience.

Royal Yacht Club of M’diq President Ali El Younsi described the event as a moment of transmission and exchange. “The M’diq International Nautical Week is above all a meeting of transmission and sharing,” he said, adding that the 22nd edition confirms SNIM’s mission to bring sailing enthusiasts together, encourage young talent, and make M’diq a meeting point between Morocco, Spain, and the Mediterranean.

Through this edition, the Royal Yacht Club of M’diq continues its work to develop sailing in northern Morocco and strengthen the region’s maritime visibility. For M’diq, SNIM remains a sporting week, a Mediterranean meeting point, and a reminder that the city’s identity has always been shaped by the sea.
