For three unforgettable days, Casablanca will come alive with the timeless melodies of Andalusian music, celebrating Morocco’s rich cultural heritage.

Fez – The Moroccan Association of Andalusian Music (AMMA) has officially announced the third edition of the Moroccan Andalusian Music Festival, scheduled from January 16 to 18.

The event will take place at the historic former Sacred-Heart Cathedral in Casablanca, a venue known for its unique atmosphere which perfectly complements the event’s theme: “Timeless Echoes of Moroccan Music: Morocco at the Crossroads of Cultures.”

Organized under the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, the festival is supported by key partners, including Casablanca Events and Animation, the Wecasablanca regional brand, and the National Lottery.

This edition will introduce attendees to the fascinating world of Andalusian music, a genre deeply rooted in Morocco’s cultural fabric and influenced by centuries of cross-cultural exchanges, according to a press release by AMMA.

“This festival is not just about music; it’s about connecting people through shared heritage and history,” says the organizing team.

Andalusian music, with its blend of Arabic, Andalusian, and Mediterranean influences, stands as a testament to Morocco’s unique position as a bridge between cultures.

The event offers an opportunity to experience this art form that transcends time and borders, uniting people through its universal language.

The festival has already established itself as a major event in Morocco’s cultural calendar. The first two editions attracted more than 9,000 music enthusiasts, setting a high bar for this year’s event. Organizers are confident that the third edition will continue this legacy.

“We are bringing together some of the most talented artists and acclaimed orchestras from across Morocco and beyond,” said the organizers in a press release. “This year’s program promises a vibrant and emotional celebration that will leave a lasting impression on everyone who attends.”

The festival’s significance goes beyond music and culture. The National Lottery, a key supporter, talked about the event’s key role in the social and cultural development of the region.

“All of our revenue is directed toward social and solidarity-driven initiatives, including support for events that promote culture and heritage,” stated the organization.

Through its partnership with the festival, the National Lottery is helping to direct its efforts to highlight the cultural richness of Morocco while contributing to the broader economic and social development of the country.

Fatima Mabchour, founding president of AMMA, expressed her pride in the festival’s growth and its mission:  “The Moroccan Andalusian Music Festival reflects the vibrant soul of our heritage and the unifying power of music. Through this third edition, we honor not just an art form, but a cultural legacy that transcends borders and connects hearts.”

This year’s lineup includes performances from renowned orchestras and artists representing various regions of Morocco, as well as international guests.

The program is designed to showcase the diversity within Andalusian music, blending traditional and contemporary interpretations.

Visitors can expect an immersive experience, from the intricate rhythms of the instruments to the powerful poetry of the lyrics.

Beyond the performances, the festival aims to foster dialogue and appreciation for a cultural heritage that has shaped Moroccan identity over centuries.

So, mark your calendars this January and get ready to be captivated by the sounds of Andalusian music in the heart of Casablanca.
