Marrakech – The Africa Top Chefs Tournament in Marrakech kicked off with a Moroccan triumph, as the North African nation claimed the prestigious “Bocuse d’Or Africa” title on the first day.

The win not only brought pride to the Moroccan team but also highlighted the undeniable influence of the country’s rich culinary heritage.

With flavors that captivated the judges and dishes that told the story of Moroccan tradition, this victory solidified Morocco’s place as a leader in African cuisine.

Karim Rahal, CEO of Rahal group, addressed the audience, stating  “We are proud of being Moroccans and African.”

“I can tell you that it’s not easy to organize an event at the national level. It’s even harder to organize a continental event. We dreamed, and thanks to God, today Morocco is hosting the Bocuse d’Or Africa,” he added, highlighting other events the North  African country have organized, including the African Pastry Cup.

Mauritius secured second place, showcasing its vibrant fusion of food, which made a lasting impression on the judges.

Mauritian cuisine brought a unique blend of flavors to the competition, reflecting the island’s diverse cultural history.

Egypt took third, earning praise for its rich, centuries-old culinary traditions.

From flavorful dishes to iconic street food staples, the Egyptian team captured the essence of its national cuisine, merging ancient recipes with modern techniques.

Ghana stood out at the Africa Top Chefs Tournament, earning the “Best Team Spirit” award.

Their unity, enthusiasm, and collaborative energy were recognized by both judges and fellow competitors, reflecting the strong camaraderie within the team.

Egypt was also a standout, receiving the “Special Platter” award for their exceptional presentation.

Their unique approach to plating showcased a modern twist on traditional Egyptian cuisine, captivating the judges with both visual appeal and flavor.

Senegal took home the “Special Menu” award, impressing the panel with their thoughtful and diverse selection of dishes, while incorporating innovative techniques, creating a memorable dining experience.

The Moroccan audience erupted in celebration as the Moroccan team clinched the victory, their excitement amplified by the iconic anthem “Sir.”

This song, which had gained fame during the World Cup, echoed through the venue, adding an extra layer of national pride and jubilation to the moment.

Through these competitions, Morocco is not only enhancing its culinary prominence but also reinforcing its role as a catalyst for African cooperation.
