Fez — Taylor Swift has announced a new original song for Disney and Pixar’s upcoming film “Toy Story 5,” adding one of pop music’s biggest names to one of animation’s most beloved franchises.

The track, titled “I Knew It, I Knew You,” is set for release on Friday, June 5.

Disney said the song was written and produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff, her longtime collaborator. It will also appear on the official “Toy Story 5” soundtrack when the film arrives on June 19.

A childhood dream meets a Pixar classic

Swift confirmed the news through social media, saying she had long dreamed of writing for characters she had loved since childhood. The singer said she saw the film in an early stage and wrote the song after returning home from the screening.

The release will come in multiple versions. Disney said pre-sales have opened for three exclusive CD editions, featuring the film version, an acoustic version, and a piano version, each with distinct vocals and production.

The announcement follows weeks of fan speculation after “Toy Story”-style hints appeared online and in public spaces.

What the song adds to the film

The song is very likely to be linked to Jessie, the cowgirl character voiced by Joan Cusack.

“Toy Story 5” is expected to bring back Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie while introducing new digital-age tensions. ABC reported that the story sees the toys face Lilypad, a frog-shaped tablet voiced by Greta Lee, whose arrival changes Bonnie’s world.

The collaboration also places Swift in a long musical tradition attached to “Toy Story.” The franchise has always used songs to deepen its emotional pull, with friendship, memory, and growing up sitting at the heart of its storytelling.
