Rabat – Royal Golf Dar Es Salam successfully defended its title at the 21st edition of Morocco’s Throne Cup, defeating The Montgomerie Rabat in the final held at Royal Golf Cabo Negro on Saturday.

Organized by the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG) and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association, the annual team championship brought together clubs from across the country in a competition combining Stroke Play qualification rounds with Match Play knockout stages.

Dar Es Salam laid the foundation for its victory during the Foursomes before sealing the win in the Singles matches.

The Montgomerie Rabat finished as runner-up after a consistent campaign marked by strong performances throughout the knockout rounds.

PalmGolf Casablanca claimed third place by overcoming Royal Country Club of Tangier in the playoff for the final podium spot.

The tournament followed a demanding format, with teams first competing in Stroke Play to qualify before advancing to Match Play.

The structure tested not only individual performances but also team depth, strategy, and the ability to perform under pressure, as every match carried significant weight in determining the final outcome.

Set between the Mediterranean coast and the Rif Mountains, Royal Golf Cabo Negro hosted this year’s edition as part of the Throne Cup’s tradition of rotating venues across Morocco. By bringing the tournament to different courses around the Kingdom, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation aims to showcase host clubs, strengthen ties within Morocco’s golfing community, and reinforce the competition’s national reach.

Beyond the sporting results, the 2026 edition highlighted the values at the heart of the Throne Cup, including team spirit, solidarity, fair play, and excellence. The tournament also underscored the central role Moroccan golf clubs play in developing the sport, nurturing players, and supporting the country’s amateur elite.

The initiative aligns with the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation’s broader mission, led under the presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, to expand participation in golf, organize high-level competitions, and strengthen pathways toward elite performance.

The federation congratulated Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, The Montgomerie Rabat, PalmGolf Casablanca, and Royal Country Club of Tangier, while also thanking Royal Golf Cabo Negro, organizers, partners, and all participating clubs and players for contributing to the success of the event.
