Rabat – All of us have those days when the idea of staying in bed and ditching every responsibility feels almost too tempting to resist or just the healthiest option.
Wrapped up in cozy sheets, sipping on something warm, and fully embracing the joy of missing out, it can feel like the perfect escape, with no harm in sight.
We should allow ourselves days like these, not necessarily in a row, and definitely not ones spent mindlessly doom-scrolling through social media, which can easily become the default activity.
If you’re planning to spend the whole day in bed, you shouldn’t let it turn into hours of scrolling, only to realize the day is gone and be left drowning in guilt afterward.
So, here are five activities you can enjoy without leaving your bed, while still making the most of your slow day.
Reading
The ultimate go-to activity is reading a good book, especially since there are so many ways to enjoy it. Pick up a physical book, read an ebook, or simply press play on an audiobook and let the narration do the work for you.
On slow, cozy days spent in bed, try reaching for a page-turner that you always have been stalling.
Stories, especially gripping ones, can easily pull you into imaginary worlds, introducing you to new characters, places, and scenarios while giving your mind a much-needed break from the everyday.
Watching movies
If you can make it through a movie without falling asleep, it can be the perfect way to pass the time while enjoying a little bed-rotting.
It doesn’t require anything besides time, which in this case, you have plenty.
Movies can be a great way to relax and unwind. Their sense of escapism allows you to step away from everyday worries for a while, helping to ease stress and clear your mind.
Games
A lot of strategic games can be played from bed, such as puzzle, chess, and wordcrossing, which you can also play online.
It is a great way to engage your mind and improve your mental health and sharpness, without the need to get out of bed.
Knitting and crafts
Knitting, crocheting, or crafting can have a calming effect, with their repetitive motions helping to ease stress and anxiety.
At the same time, these activities keep your mind focused on the present moment, offering a meditative escape from everyday worries.
There’s no rush because it’s a lazy day, but there’s still a sense of productivity. And seeing the final result can bring a satisfying sense of accomplishment.
Exercising and working out
Staying fit while staying in bed may sound contradictory, but it’s possible. There are plenty of yoga poses and stretches that can be done while lying down.
There are several examples of that, such as Kegel’s exercises, which are pelvic floor exercises. Also breathing exercises, as well as Supine leg marches, which targets the muscles of the glutes, legs, and core. It’s a variation of a regular glute bridge.
Of course, exercises done from bed won’t deliver significant fitness results, but they can be a gentle first step toward something more strenuous,or simply a fun way to move your body while listening to a good playlist.
