Marrakech – Sonara Festival is set to return this September, transforming the Red City into a vibrant hub of electronic music and cultural fusion. Scheduled from September 12–13, the festival promises three days of immersive beats, desert vibes, and unforgettable experiences for music lovers.
Set at Les Jardins d’Issil, just outside Marrakech, Sonara Festival combines open-air desert landscapes with professional festival infrastructure for comfort and safety.
“From the very beginning, my vision was to create not just one event, but a series of four festivals every year that contribute to building a consistent music culture here,” said Mohammed Mamondy, founder of Sonara Festival.
Mamondy, originally from Kurdistan, Iraq, comes from a diplomatic family and has extensive experience in international business.
He also manages Fly Erbil, an airline in Erbil, Iraq, demonstrating that Sonara Festival is backed by both credibility and the resources to produce world-class events.
“I have seen many events in the region that were not organized with the right standards, where people felt manipulated or left disappointed. My mission is different: to set a new benchmark in Morocco by delivering professional, transparent, and world-class productions,” Mamondy added.

The stars of the galaxy
Friday opens with Agents of Time as the headliner, bringing their hypnotic, progressive sounds to the Marrakech scene.
They are joined by Abstraal, whose fresh beats blend deep house and electronic textures, and Chaleee, a rising artist bringing new energy to the festival stage.
Saturday features Chris Avantgarde as the headliner, performing in Morocco for the very first time.
His melodic techno sets promise to elevate the festival experience, offering attendees a truly unique opportunity.
Sharing the stage are Savage & SHE, known for their dynamic electronic grooves, and Ilee, whose innovative sounds bring fresh perspectives to the lineup.
“I believe that every lineup should bring something fresh and exciting. Too often we see the same DJs returning again and again,” Mamondy explained.
“Chris Avantgarde is one of the most innovative artists in the melodic techno scene right now, and bringing him to Marrakech for the first time felt like the perfect way to elevate the experience.”
