Fez — Disney-Pixar is bringing “Toy Story 5” to Moroccan cinemas on June 17, giving families in the country an early look at a new chapter built around one of the franchise’s most current questions: what happens to toys when children’s attention moves to screens?

Distributed in Morocco by Film Event Consulting, the film returns to Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the gang as they face a new rival for children’s imagination: connected technology.

Disney describes the sequel as a “Toy meets Tech” story, with the toys challenged by Lilypad, a tablet device voiced by Greta Lee, whose arrival disrupts Bonnie’s playtime.

A Pixar sequel about changing childhood

The new film keeps the emotional foundation that made “Toy Story” one of animation’s defining franchises, while moving the story into a world shaped by electronics and screen habits.

For nearly three decades, the saga has returned to the same basic idea: toys matter because they hold children’s memories, fears, and imagination. In “Toy Story 5,” that bond is tested by a generation growing up with tablets and digital entertainment as part of daily life.

Rather than treating technology only as a villain, the film appears to frame the conflict as a question of place. Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and their friends must understand how to remain meaningful in a world where play itself has changed.

Familiar voices return

Tom Hanks returns as Woody, Tim Allen reprises Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack is back as Jessie. Disney’s official listing also features Greta Lee, Conan O’Brien, Tony Hale, Craig Robinson, Annie Potts, Bonnie Hunt, Keanu Reeves, and others among the voice cast.

The return of Hanks, Allen, and Cusack gives the sequel a direct link to the earlier films, preserving the emotional continuity that has followed audiences since the first “Toy Story” opened in 1995.

“Toy Story 5” is directed by Andrew Stanton and co-directed by Kenna Harris, with Lindsey Collins producing. Stanton and Harris also wrote the film from a story by Stanton, while Randy Newman returns to compose the score for his fifth “Toy Story” feature.
