Rabat – Since December 2023, Korean films and television series have generated more than 5 billion views on Netflix, highlighting the continued global appetite for Korean entertainment.

According to Deadline, Netflix’s decision to publicly release more detailed viewing figures in December 2023 offered an unprecedented look at how its Korean titles were performing worldwide. 

The data has since provided a clearer picture of the shows and films attracting audiences across the platform.

‘Squid Game’ (2021)

“Squid Game” has undoubtedly topped Netflix’s ranking since its first release. Making it Netflix’s biggest debut at the time, and the most anticipated series on the platform.

Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the story follows 456 players drowning in debt who enter a secret contest. Six classic kids’ games, one winner, and a massive cash prize, but lose and you’re out for good.

The first season has reached over 1.65 billion viewing hours in the first 28 days, while the second has blown up even more, with 70 million more views than the season that followed it.

‘The Great flood’ (2025) 

Right after the Three seasons of “Squid Game,” comes this Korean sci-fi disaster film that had viewers hooked. Starting as an only simple flood survival story.  

Based on an original script, the story starts when Kim Da-mi, an AI researcher and single mother, wakes up to find her apartment building swallowed by rising water in Seoul.  

While the flood threatens to drown everyone, it’s revealed to be part of a larger apocalypse, and a time-loop experiment to save humanity’s emotions. All in an exceptional mix of “The Poseidon Adventure” and “Interstellar.”

It went on to hit 72.1 million views on Netflix, and landed in the Top 10 Most-Watched Non-English Films. Just 1 movie, 106 minutes, easy to binge and rewatch.

‘Badland Hunters’ (2024)

Set years after a massive earthquake, the film imagines Seoul as a lawless expanse of rubble. Nam-san, a hunter who goes looking for a missing girl. find himself face to face with illegal experiments, backed by a militia hoarding medicine and power.

The film hit the first rank on Netflix worldwide, and pulled 23 million views in its first week. And it still grips watchers until today.

“Badland Hunter” is a once in a lifetime experience. Perfect if you’re in the mood for something fast, satisfying,  raw but also easy to binge in one sitting, fast.

‘King The Land’ (2023)

What started as a classic enemies-to-lovers story made it into 69 million views on Netflix, and left K-Drama enthusiasts fall for everything about this luxury resort romance.

Based on an original script, the story follows Gu Won, the cold and wealthy heir to King Group, who is forced to work at King Hotel. 

There, he repeatedly clashes with Sa-rang, a cheerful employee known for her signature smile, setting the stage for a classic workplace romance.

While their personalities could not be more different, a fake-dating arrangement gradually turns into something real. As their relationship deepens, the two begin helping each other heal while falling for one another.
