Marrakech – In an exciting development aimed at streamlining communication, WhatsApp has introduced a new feature allowing users to pin up to three messages in a chat, the website TechCrunch reported today.
The announcement, made by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp head Will Cathcart on their respective WhatsApp Channels, marks a significant improvement to the popular messaging platform.
Rolled out initially for both one-on-one and group conversations last December, this functionality enables users to pin various message types, from text to images and polls.
With pinned messages at their fingertips, users can effortlessly access crucial information, from friend’s addresses to outing details, ensuring a smoother and more organized chatting experience.
To use the pinning feature, WhatsApp users can simply long-press on the desired message and select “Pin” from the menu.
Users have the flexibility to select the duration for which the message will remain pinned, added the report, noting that they can choose from three preset options: 24 hours, the default choice of 7 days, or an extended span of 30 days.
Nevertheless, while users can choose from preset durations for pinning messages, such as 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days, there’s currently no option for indefinitely keeping a message pinned.
This means users will need to re-pin important messages every 30 days if they wish to maintain their prominence in the conversation.
Alternatively, they can use the “Star” feature to flag messages for future reference, accessing them conveniently through the contact information menu.
