Lugano – Shakira has officially unveiled “Dai Dai,” her official song of the FIFA World Cup, marking her long-awaited return to the global football tournament.

The Colombian singer announced the song on her official instagram account through a teaser video shared on social media.

The clip, filmed at Brazil’s iconic Maracanã Stadium, features Shakira performing alongside dancers while previewing the upbeat new track.

“Dai Dai” also features Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy and is scheduled for release on May 14.

Shakira’s connection to the FIFA World Cup dates back to 2010, when she performed “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” the official anthem of the tournament hosted in South Africa. The song became a global cultural phenomenon, topping charts around the world

She later returned to the tournament during the 2014 FIFA World Cup with “La La La (Brazil 2014),” featuring Carlinhos Brown, further strengthening her connection to football culture and international sporting events.

The announcement of “Dai Dai” also arrives during another major moment in Shakira’s career.

Earlier this month, the singer performed a massive free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro that reportedly attracted around two million people.

Largest FIFA World Cup in history

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to become the biggest edition of the tournament to date.

Hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the competition will expand to 48 national teams and feature more than 100 matches.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on June 11, with a match between South Korea versus South Africa, at the Mexico City Stadium.

The final is set to take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium near New York City.

With “Dai Dai,” Shakira once again positions herself at the center of football’s global cultural moment, continuing a musical legacy that has become deeply tied to the FIFA World Cup experience.
