Washington – The nonprofit organization, World Central Kitchen (WCK), usually responds to disasters and is on the frontline, but recently, they’re bringing their efforts to the World Cup events.
Football is known to bring people from all around the world together, but another common topic to do so is food.
WCK, and its founder Chef José Andrés, believe that having access to food is right for every human. With that being said, they’re hosting events based around communities in four major United States host cities.
They want to invite fans from around the world to come and share this experience: Chef José Andrés explained, “I believe food has the power to change the world: to bring us together around longer tables.”
The WCK hopes to bring communities together and also raise awareness to support food relief efforts.
José brought his professional chef skills to serve communities in Lebanon, Congo, Haiti, Gaza, and many more countries that are ever in need of a fresh, solid meal in times of distress and chaos. Their mission isn’t limited only to the United States.
Because of the global event, the World Cup, the Kitchen will be in cities like Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, California, expanding the work of the WCK.
The organization is setting up at watch parties with food trucks and partnerships such as Border Grill, a partner who has been with WCK for a while now.
The food trucks will provide complimentary snacks to fans near stadium areas or at watch parties.
Organizing food trucks and giving out free food to football fans is a great opportunity for the nonprofit to exemplify what their mission is and its worldwide presence.
